SURF Awards 2010

The 2010 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration - which are sponsored by the Scottish Government - were announced at a celebratory presentation event in Glasgow on December 2.

The winners

Representatives of the four winning and four highly commended projects were presented with certificates of recognition of their excellence by SURF Chair Stephen Maxwell:


  • Winner: Rag Tag 'N' Textile (Wester Ross and Skye)
  • Highly Commended: Northmavine Community Development Company (Shetland)


  • Winner: Uig Community Shop (Lewis)
  • Highly Commended: Tobermory Harbour Association (Mull)


  • Winner: Eday Partnership (Orkney)
  • Highly Commended: Central Govan Action Plan (Glasgow)

Healthy and Employability Partnership

  • Winner: Employability and Health: An Integrated Approach (Stirling)
  • Highly Commended: Clydesdale Community Initiatives (South Lanarkshire)

What happens next?

Over the next few months, the Scottish Centre for Regeneration will be working with SURF to offer opportunities to learn from the experience of the winners via case studies visits. Keep an eye on the website for updates.
