Affordable Housing Supply Programme 2012-13 to 2015-16

We surpassed our target of 30,000 affordable homes, by delivering 33,490 affordable homes, of which 22,523 were for social rent.

Affordable Housing Supply Programme 2016-17 to 2020-21

The Scottish Government is determined to increase and accelerate the supply of new affordable homes across all tenures and support local authorities to deliver their housing priorities with quality homes in mixed communities that fit local needs.

The Scottish Government's target during the lifetime of this Parliament is to deliver at least 50,000 affordable homes which will be backed up with investment of over £3 billion in affordable housing.

Financial Innovation

Increasingly limited public finances and resources have reduced what can be achieved through traditional funding approaches. We are maintaining Scotland’s leadership in financial innovation and working closely with partners to create and enable innovative ways to deliver more for less public investment.

The contribution from innovative financing approaches, using government guarantees, loans, grant recycling and new sources of private funding, is substantial and growing:

We still want to do more to increase and accelerate the supply of new affordable homes and will continue to work across the public and private sectors to stretch available public resources and harness increased levels of private finance in innovative ways wherever possible.
