Modernista: Gaudi and his Contemporaries in Modern Day Barcelona | The Lighthouse 2009

From 14 November 2009 to 28 February 2010, an exhibition of a newly commissioned series of photographs of Barcelona's Modernista buildings by Spain's best-known architectural figure, Antoni Gaudi, and his contemporaries was shown in The Lighthouse, Glasgow. This was created in partnership with Glasgow School of Art and is co-funded by the Scottish Government and the Clydesdale Bank to coincide with the Glasgow School of Art's centenary celebrations.

Spaces of Labour | The Lighhouse 2009

Running from 14 November 2009 to 14 March 2010, the Spaces of Labour exhibition documented the historical places and buildings associated with traditional industries that have gone into decline, such as coal, textiles, fishing and slate. Originating in the post-graduate programme in the Department of Architecture at the University of Strathclyde, and produced in partnership with the Department, Spaces of Labour proposed that the long term future of the Scottish economy is dependent on reinvigorating a manufacturing and industrial sector and that architecture has a key role to play in this process.
