International Design Summit 2012

Design Summit image1This event was delivered by the Scottish Government to officially launch
A policy on architecture and placemaking for Scotland: public consultation 2012.

The summit invited speakers to outline some of the excellent projects being delivered at different scales in Scotland and in other parts of Europe.  Delegates were invited to ask questions, share experiences and offer practical ideas that could shape the kind of place we want Scotland to be in the future.

Design Summit image2Delegates were also invited to take part in breakout sessions over the two days.  This included contributions on Place and Economy, Culture, Participation, approaches to delivery (using creativity, enterprise and design), embedding design in investment decisions and other ways of ‘doing architecture’.

Architecture and Design Scotland have produced a newsletter that summarises the key messages to come from the first day of the event.  This was made available to delegates on the morning of the second day. Also Architecture and Design Scotland produced a further newsletter that summarises the key messages to come from the second day of the event.
