Creative Industries

The Scottish Government is committed to developing Scotland as a production centre for television, film and new media and is working to ensure that the right conditions exist to allow these industries to flourish.

The sector is made up of 13 distinct industries - advertising, architecture, art and antiques, crafts, design, designer fashion, film, interactive leisure software, music, performing arts, publishing, software and computer services and TV and radio.

As part of the creative industries, the screen industries are a key area for development as set out in the Scottish Government's Economic Strategy.

The Government further believes that support to creative industries is best delivered in partnership with creative industries organisations, getting involved according to skills, expertise and knowledge. Recently published documents highlighted below, outline how that partnership will work:

Creative Scotland is the lead body for the development, advocacy and funding of the arts and screen industries in Scotland.
