Coached Off The Couch

The Scottish Government provided funding to STV to deliver a series of 6 programmes aimed at encouraging people across Scotland to use sport and other activities as a way of becoming more physically active and reap the benefits of doing so.  The programme, which was also supported by the Daily Record, was presented by Kelly Cates, daughter of Scottish Football legend Kenny Dalglish. Each episode features well known athletes and former sports stars: David Wilkie (swimming), Liz McColgan (athletics), Catriona Matthews (golf), Mark Beaumont (cyclist), Graham Randall (judo), Scott Hastings (rugby), Alex Arthur (boxing), and Gary Innes (shinty). The athletes introduce families and individuals from across Scotland to three new sports and provide guidance on their journey to a fitter, healthier lifestyle.

The programmes aired weekly from Friday 21 September to Friday 19 October. For more information and further advice on the activities featured in the programme, see the Coached Off The Couch microsite.
