The Games budget is £575.6 million. Around £461m will be provided from public funds with the remainder raised through commercial activities – including broadcasting income, ticket sales, sponsorship and sales of merchandise.
The Scottish Government will provide up to £381.6m which equates to 68% of the total budget.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games will be a catalyst for significant change and will generate enormous sporting, social and economic benefits for the whole of Scotland. The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has enjoyed strong cross party support. Economic evaluations at the time of our bid indicated that Scotland will benefit significantly from holding the Commonwealth Games.
The Games are on track to be delivered on time and budget and are already bringing real, tangible and lasting physical, social and economic benefits to the people of Scotland.
