Executive Summary

The Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011 came into force on the 1st January 2013, and requires the Scottish Government to submit a Records Management Plan (RMP) to be agreed by the Keeper of the Records of Scotland. This document is the Records Management Plan of the Scottish Government and was submitted to the Keeper of the Records of Scotland on 25 June 2015.

The Scottish Government is fully committed to compliance with the requirements of the Public Records (Scotland) Act, which came into force on the 1st January 2013 and follow procedures that aim to ensure that all employees, contractors, agents, consultants and other trusted third parties who have access to any information held within the Government, are fully aware of and abide by their duties under the Act.
