The current Scottish Government has a long-standing intention to introduce legislation which would require contracts for dedicated school transport – generally commissioned by local authorities – to stipulate that the vehicles must be fitted with seatbelts. We are soliciting views to help us shape any legislation that may be brought forward in this area by a future Scottish Government, following the devolution of powers to Holyrood on this issue last year.
