The Scottish Government consulted on revisions to NUTS2 Boundaries. This document provides the analysis from the consultation and the Chief Statisticians decision to support changes to the current NUTS Boundaries

2. The standard deviation is a measure of spread or variation in data. If the population of NUTS areas have a low standard deviation, this would indicate that they all have populations close to the average population.
