Final Estimate of the Cereal and Oilseed Rape Harvest 2014

Thursday, December 18, 2014

ISBN: 9781785440328

This publication contains the final estimates of cereal and oilseed rape production and yield for the 2014 harvest in Scotland.

Executive Summary

Between 2013 and 2014 production is estimated to have risen by 384,000 tonnes to 3.2 million tonnes; the highest estimated production in 20 years. This represents a recovery from the 2012 crop year, when decreased production was caused by poor growing conditions and a wet and prolonged harvest period. The overall increase in cereal production this year is due to a 13 per cent increase in yields, as total area remained largely unchanged.
