The Draft Sectoral Marine Plans for Offshore Wind, Wave and Tidal energy in Scottish Waters represent Scottish Ministers' proposed spatial policy for the development of commercial scale offshore renewable energy at a national and regional level.

Executive Summary

The Scottish Government has used a marine planning approach to develop Draft Sectoral Marine Plans for Offshore Wind, Wave and Tidal Energy in Scottish Waters. The process involves giving consideration to our resource and key constraints before applying social, economic and environmental assessments to inform the development of options contained within the Draft Sectoral Marine Plans.

Consultation is a key element in the development of the Plans. Through this paper, the Scottish Government will seek to engage, capture and build the views of individuals and, statutory, sectoral, regional, voluntary and other bodies into the planning process.
