Planning Scotland's Seas: Draft Sectoral Marine Plans for Offshore Renewable Energy in Scottish Waters: Socio - Economic Assessment

Thursday, July 25, 2013

ISBN: 9781782567509

The study reported here provides a high level socio-economic appraisal of the potential costs and benefits to activities that may arise as a result of offshore wind, wave or tidal development within the Draft Plan Options as part of possible future Scottish Government plans for offshore wind, wave and tidal energy. The socioeconomic assessment will contribute to informing Scottish Ministers‘ decisions on the content of these future energy plans.

Executive Summary

Marine Scotland commissioned ABPMer and RPA to analyse the potential economic impacts of the Draft Plan Options on other activities that make use of the sea, and any consequent social impacts that could arise as a result of these.

This analysis, ‘Developing the Socio-economic Evidence Base for Offshore Renewable Energy Sectoral Marine Plans in Scottish Waters’ (the ‘socio-economic assessment’) is published as a supporting document to this Sustainability Appraisal.
