Wednesday, October 10, 2012

ISBN: 9781782560418

The project has collated existing data on SPA populations breeding around the Scottish coast. The project utilised data from JNCC, SNH, RSPB and other sources. The purpose of the project was to provide a collated source of information for renewable developers, regulators and advisers. It did not act as a specific review of SPAs.

Executive Summary

The report provides a single source of information on the current SPA breeding population levels specifically for renewables, provides information on trends in population sizes obtainable from currently available data and fills the data gap between Seabird 2000 and the next national seabird census (likely to be between 2013 – 2015).

The project has provided valuable SPA population estimates that are required to inform the EIA and HRA processes.
